Cadena and its sister company Cadena Desarrollos (Spain) are specialised real estate development and investment management companies operating in the UK and Spain.

The Cadena team founded multi-award winning European retail property fund manager, Pradera, which was successfully sold by Cadena in April 2015. Pradera manages four discretionary retail property funds investing in shopping centres and retail warehouse parks. They also manage assets on behalf of separate mandate clients as well as investing with partners on a joint venture basis. Pradera currently manage €3.1 billion, comprising of 49 assets (October 2019). Established in 2005, Cadena has extensive experience in several other property sub-sectors including; hotels, leisure, residential, industrial/distribution, offices, mixed use, business hotels and data centres.

​The directors have many years' experience in the commercial property sector and our experience enables us to tailor investment, development and asset-management strategies individually to each asset and identify the best performance. Our strength is working with local authorities, landowners, financial institutions, occupiers and other industry professionals to secure sites, obtain planning permissions and construct high quality buildings. Our People

Paul Whight

Paul has over 30 years’ experience in property development and investment in both the UK and Europe. He is a qualified Town Planner, FCA and CSSF authorised and founder of multi-award winning European retail property fund manager, Pradera. Pradera operates discretionary retail property funds in the Eurozone and single mandates in the UK. Pradera has been consistently ranked at the top of the IPD rankings and is seen as a "best in class" fund manager. It currently has €3.1 billion of retail property assets under management.

Prior to founding Pradera, in 1989 he founded Grantchester which focused on retail property developments and investments throughout the United Kingdom. Grantchester achieved a London Stock Exchange listing in 1996. The portfolio grew to circa £750 million before the company was sold to Hammerson PLC in 2002. Grantchester PLC was ranked first in the IPD league of 250 funds and property companies over the last five years of Paul's chairmanship and won the BDO Stoy Hayward Property Accounts Awards in both 1998 and 1999.

Barrie Whight

Barrie is Managing Director and has worked in commercial real estate for 18 years both in the UK and Europe, with extensive experience in full cycle asset sourcing and selection, acquisition, finance, development, leasing, sale and associated reporting.

Barrie was Board member and Director at Pradera (retail specialist with AUM €3.1bn) for 5 years to 2015, working on the firm's open-ended retail fund (POERF), as well as other mandates and joint ventures.

​Before joining Pradera, Barrie was Development Director at Helios Properties plc, working in the UK and Europe on a wide range of mixed-use commercial development and investment projects. Most notably, Barrie lead the development of millions of square feet of distribution centres in the UK and Europe.

Dilip Khullar

Dilip is Cadena's Managing Director for Spain and in this capacity responsible for all aspects of Cadena's property development and investment activities on the Iberian Peninsula, having worked in Spain for 22 years.

Prior to joining Cadena, Dilip held senior positions with US developer Hines and was previously Managing Director of Canadian investor and developer TrizecHahn Spain. Dilip holds undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Economics and Land Economy and an Advanced Certificate in innovation, management and technology from the MIT Sloan School of Business. Dilip is a UK trained Chartered Surveyor and a member of the Urban Regeneration Council of the Urban Land Institute Europe.
